090 - Surprise at the Airport

BIG NEWS!!!

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend. I am so excited to share some great news with you all.

My comics characters have been accepted by LINE as 'stickers' for their texting service!

For people who have not yet heard of LINE, it is a social messaging application where you can exchange texts, images, video and audio. The really cool thing is they allow people to submit a series of 40 drawings which, if accepted by LINE, are then sold on their store. These drawings are called 'stickers' and work like emoticons. So now you can use my drawings to convey your feelings to friends in a text message.

The whole process took almost 6 months and my 'stickers' and are available now. I would be very grateful for any support. Please have a look by clicking the link below. You are super awesome if you can possibly purchase any. :P

Here is one of the stickers!

  1. Wow, you sure got an unexpected shock! But I'm glad to see that everything worked out in the end--including the inspiration to draw the third panel in this week's comic strip, where you and Kevin blew your tops. (Heh! Now we know your dark secret: you wear a wig!--Just Kidding.) Seriously, though, this was one of the best single panels that you've ever drawn, in my opinion. And congratulations on entering into an agreement with Line, by the way; I only learned a few days ago how big this site/app is in Japan, so hopefully it'll get big here too so that you sell lots of stickers--you deserve great success, Hanako. Cheers! :)

    1. Thank you for your comments. I only learned about LINE this year so I am looking forward to seeing if it is successful. Some of my friends have already sent me some texts with my stickers, it feels strange and cool to see my drawings used by other people.

  2. Living on the edge, indeed...I would have had a heart attack if I were in your situation. D:

The stickers seem like a good idea! Your drawings convey expressions very well. I can't purchase them at the moment, but some are quite endearing. ^_^

    1. Applying for the ESTA was like trying to defuse a bomb with a clock ticking down! haha ;p.
Thankfully, we made it before it exploded!
I hope you are able purchase the stickers sometime soon, I don't know how many countries LINE is available in yet.
      wish me luck!

  3. Yikes, I know how that is. When my parents and I were flying to South Africa similar thing happened to us. If you are under 18 you need to have your birth certificate to vet into the country. That way they can make sure the adults traveling with you are your parents. but we didn't know this until we checked in at the gate!

We had to call our friend and have her drive 20 miles to our house (we live on a farm pretty far our of town), open our safe, drive back into town, and fax the certificate to the airport. We amazingly made our flight just with two minutes to spare.
